Kennel
There is no one way to position this soft/hard sculpture; it cannot stand without careful arrangement, it slumps and slithers. I made it while I was reading Freud and looking at the furniture in his house in Hampstead, his desk and chair, the famous couch.
This piece incorporates the patterned wood on the back of my grandmother’s clock, a domed structure full of intricate and obscure workings.
‘Kennel’ was selected by Phyllida Barlowe and exhibited at Kettle's Yard, Cambridge in 2002 as part of Kettle's Yard Open.
